MotoGP festivities

Built from the ground up…

We had the opportunity to partner with Progressive MC for the Handbuilt Custom Moto Show. Every year, builders are able to show off their projects amid an enthusiastic crowd in town for the MotoGP festivities.

Our own Barrett Powers chopped it up through the weekend. Here’s some shots from the event:

Day Party During SXSW

We Did a Day Party During SXSW, We Also Did Some Interviews

Hopefully everyone has had a little time to decompress after their SXSW experience.  Now that everyone is back to real life, we’d like to take a moment to look back at our very own day party featuring Alex Cameron, Video Age, Deep Cuts, High Church and Missions.

We had a chance to sit down with each of the artists after their sets.  Check out the recap and interviews with each artist in the lineup:

SHED Barber: SXSW Day Party

SHED Barber: SXSW Day Party 2017 Announcement

We are proud to announce our 2nd Annual SHED Day Party. The showcase will be next Saturday, March 18th at Javelina Bar on 69 Rainey Street.

We have curated artists who we are excited to share with y’all. Here is a rundown of these talent for you to get familiar with before the showcase:

Alex Cameron: Performing as a “failed and down on his luck musician”, Alex appears to be ripped from a David Lynch script. The Australian hits all of the emotional highs and lows of living in the limelight.

Video Age: New Orleans duo who provide a soundtrack to cut up the dance floor. Themes of solidarity and coming-of-age are found on their debut album “Living Alone”. Here is their groovy video inspired by the star’s actual dancing style.

Deep Cuts: Mixing a wide array of influences including latin, surf guitar, and jazz is Deep Cuts. Already established in their homebase of Houston, the band is busy extending their audience which include the likes of Alan Palomo of Neon Indian. Expect new tracks as the band continues to evolve.

Highchurch: Once described as “sad prom music”, East Austin’s very own HIGH CHURCH is here to warp you to state of lukewarm bliss.

Missions: Dark wave solo artist Missions will be playing a selection of his brand of darkwave off his upcoming debut release on Holodeck Records.

Conversation On "Health + Wellness"

Conversation On “Health + Wellness” Recap:

Space 24 Twenty at Urban Outfitters here in Austin hosted SHED Barber and Supply over the weekend. Barbers Cisco Alba and Rob Miller demonstrated two haircuts and stylings while interweaving grooming, fitness, and style advice to a Sunday crowd. The conversation was part of Space 24’s “Health and Wellness” themed month of events.

As a cornerstone of our clients’ routine, SHED strives to provide informative dialogue. The chatter that is often heard between a barber and their client is reflective of the relationship established. From this place, we alway work to establish best practices that work themselves into all lifestyles.

Thank you to all of our sponsors including: Uppercut Deluxe, Topo Chico, Bearded Brothers, and Austin Eastciders. Congrats to our raffle winners who walked away with some great prize packs benefitting Austin’s Out Youth organization.

New Goods, New Look

New Site, New Goods, New Look.

SHED Barbershop & Supply, the service and community focused Austin barbershop  are happy to announce we will be rebranding ourselves as: SHED Barber and Supply. We pride ourselves on crafting unique one-of-a-kind grooming experiences for the Austin community and will continue our existing business model as we expand into new avenues.

SHED Barber and Supply have been producing hand-crafted haircuts and grooming for Austin clientele since 2014. We are giving our website a complete overhaul, along with plans to open a second location in Austin’s East Side neighborhood, and will also be expanding into curating a selection of menswear fashions.

Our new website is thanks to the team at what.it.is, which will simplify communicating and interacting with the shop. This will include a refined booking system, easy to shop webstore, and recurring updates to the new blog.

We’ve worked closely with our friends at Canales and Co. this past year to developing a branding and design language that would grow with our new endeavors. Our emphasis on the phrase “Neighborhood” is reflective of how intertwined we are with our community. Our barbers have deep relationships with their clients that make us feel like a sanctuary where you can escape from your routines.

We are grateful for our continued growth opportunities which are in huge thanks to you, our loyal clients, friends and community. We are excited to share all of these changes with you and hope to have more soon.

A New Scent From These Fields.

If you’ve been to our barbershop, then you’ve probably smelled the work of Alfonso Nicolai, creator of These Fields. He’s the mad scientist behind our SHED fragrance oil. We use his custom scent on our hot towels every single day to enhance the experience of your haircut or shave. We even used that same essence for our roll-on cologne.

Now we have the honor of featuring the latest scent from THESE FIELDS: “P⚯OM⌿”

P⚯OM⌿ [ Päwhm ] is the native K’iche’-Maya word for copal incense. Used in ancient rituals by the Maya people, it remains an inseparable element of physical and psychic wellness in the Yucatán. This fragrance oil is made as a practical conduit. A way to materialize the mystic power attributed to it in an unrelentingly modern time and place.
notes: copal negro de Yucatán, vetiver, ambergris, labdanum absolut, lime
The Fox Den

East Austin Paradise: The Fox Den

One takeaway from living in Austin is how lush and vibrant it is in contrast to the wide open plains commonly associated with Texas. It’s not uncommon now to see that greenery making its way indoors as permanent fixtures to our living spaces.

In order to stock up on some green (we were dismayed to find out it was the legal kind), we paid a visit to what’s become an East Austin staple: The Fox Den. Located on 11th and Chicon, owner Candice has naturally nestled into her more spacious digs. She has created a warm and inviting spot and doesn’t hesitate to educate and lend her own personal experiences with the plants. There is a great mix of both tropical and desert selections, reflective of the tone East Austin has. Strewn among the greenery are carefully selected art and home goods.

If you pay a visit to our Holly location, you’ll notice our massive (and dare we say: gorgeous) fiddle leaf fig, and a towering bird of paradise tree – thank you to our friends at The Fox Den for educating us on them and helping make sure they’ll be photosynthesizing in the shop for years to come.

Museum

WHERE THE END STARTS

If you find yourself traveling around Texas this holiday season, make it a point to detour over to The Modern in Fort Worth. The museum is currently housing a traveling exhibit featuring a wide array of work by the artist KAWS. Even if you don’t know the the name, you will know the art. Heavily influenced by graffiti and street art from his home of New York, the artist has built a portfolio that comments on consumerism, pop-culture, and humanity itself. The larger than life installation runs through January 22nd, 2017 before heading to Shanghai.
